School District 43 (Coquitlam) is pleased to welcome all new students to our school district and schools. SD43 (Coquitlam) provides public education for the Cities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, and the Villages of Anmore and Belcarra.
Most students are eligible to register directly at their catchment school. You can locate your neighbourhood catchment school by placing your address into our school locator.
WHAT IS A NEIGHBOURHOOD CATCHMENT SCHOOL?
A student's neighbourhood catchment school is based on the student's permanent residence (the primary home address where the parent/guardian and child reside).
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
A student is eligible to register with SD43 (Coquitlam) if:
- The custodial parent/legal guardian and student are 'ordinarily resident' in British Columbia (BC School Act Section 74(6) may limit registration eligibility).
- The student will be five years old by December 31 of the year they register.
WHEN CAN I REGISTER?
Students turning five (5) before Dec 31st in the current year, may register for Kindergarten in February of the same year. Students moving into the district can register at any time.
KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS

Kindergarten students entering the school system for the first time (turning 5 by December of the current year) ideally register during the Kindergarten registration period (early February).
Families may also register at any time by sending an email and attaching the New Student Registration Form and required documentation to their neighbourhood catchment school email address (Please note schools are closed over the summer- July/August).
Use our School Locator tool to find your neighbourhood catchment school.

If your child will be starting Kindergarten in September and has an older sibling who will still be attending the same elementary school in September (even if it's not your neighbourhood catchment school), you can send an email to the school and attach the New Student Registration Form and required documentation during Kindergarten Registration, which takes place from February 4 to 6.
PROGRAMS OF CHOICE (FRENCH IMMERSION, MANDARIN BILINGUAL, MONTESSORI)
The school district offers a variety of educational programs of choice for students that require registration.
Families who wish to register for Kindergarten Programs of Choice (French Immersion, Mandarin Bilingual and Montessori) or Grade 6 Programs of Choice (French Immersion and Montessori) typically apply during the Programs of Choice Application Period (early January).
