Cross Catchment Applications Open Until Feb 11, 2026 4pm

Cross Catchment Applications are for students who wish to transfer to another school that is not their neighbourhood catchment school. All applications will be processed using a lottery system. For students starting Kindergarten in K , you do not need to provide the PEN. Apply for Kindergarten here. For Grades 1- 12 students, y ou will nee d your child's nine digit PEN (Personal Education Number) to complete the application. PEN's can be found on formal report cards, through the MyED Family Portal, or through your school. Apply for Grades 1-12 here. F amilies will be notified by email about the status of their application in the first week of March.

If your child will be starting Kindergarten in September and has an older sibling who will still be attending the same elementary school in September (even if it's not your neighbourhood catchment school), you can register directly at the sibling's school. You do not need to apply for cross catchment.
All applications will be processed using a lottery system (random selection)*
Families will be notified by email about the status of their application in the first week of March.

Kindergarten Programs of Choice (for students 5 years old on or before December 31, 2026 )
Kindergarten Programs: French Immersion, Mandarin Bilingual, Montessori
Successful applicants will be notified by email from the school beginning Monday, January 26th.
Kindergarten children with siblings in the program must still apply online and will be given highest priority (provided the sibling will still be in attendance the following school year), if space is available.

Successful applicants will be notified by email from the school beginning Tuesday, January 27th.
PLEASE NOTE: All applications will be processed using a lottery system (random selection).

Applications are not timestamped, so there is no need to rush to submit. Please answer the forms carefully.

*Coast Salish Elementary School is at/near capacity and will currently accept sibling requests from cross-catchment applications. Should space become available, consideration for families from the Smiling Creek Elementary School catchment would be given next priority.*
