​​​WITT banner.jpg​​​​​​​​​​​The Women in Trades Training Program provides support to female students who are interested in pursuing a Career, Education or Training in Trades. β€‹School District 43 and the Career and Trades Programs  is committed to providing equal access and opportunity for women and all other minority groups. 

​There are several programs and resources available for women interested in exploring or entering Trades​. In partnership with the ITA, BC Center for Women in Trades, and local Post Secondary schools, we are able to provide female students with; 

  • ​Tuition free Trades Training Programs 
  • Financial support for equipment and other supplies  
  • Women only cohorts and training 
  • Mentorship Programs β€‹
  • ​Employment access and retention 
  • Networking and job seeking opportunities 
  • ​Support for employers and contractors to create an inclusive and respectful workplace β€‹

​​JOT banner.jpg​​The Coquitlam School District will be partnering with BCIT to offer the Jill of All Trades Event on April 10th, 2025. β€‹To participate, students must complete the application and submit it to their school counselor or Post Secondary Advisor by March 7th, 2025. Please read details below.  β€‹

Jill of All Trades is a hands-on, in-the-shop event designed for students in Grades 9-12 who identify as female or are gender diverse. This event aims to inspire students to explore careers in the Skilled Trades. Participants will get a behind-the-scenes look at BCIT's state-of-the-art facilities, interact with industry professionals, and engage in a series of interactive workshops across various trades, including:

  • Ironworker
  • Machinist
  • Cabinetmaker (Joiner)
  • Motorcycle Technician
  • Digital Communications and Wireless Technologies
  • Sheet Metal
  • Auto Body and Collision Technician
  • And many more!

Also included in the experience; 

  • Transportation to and from BCIT 
  • Two T-shirt & more giveaways! 
  • Lunch 
  • Opportunity to meet and connect other female students & women in trades
