As we begin a new school year, I would like to extend a heartfelt welcome to each of you, whether you are a new family to our district or returning from a well-deserved summer break. September brings fresh starts, renewed energy, and exciting opportunities. It is a special time throughout our district, and we have so much to look forward to in the year ahead.

I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the incredible support and dedication you continue to show our schools and district. Your commitment to the success, well-being, and growth of our students makes a meaningful difference and is deeply appreciated.

I encourage you to become involved in your school community in whatever way works best for your family. Whether you participate in your school's Parent Advisory Council (PAC), volunteer in a classroom, assist at school events, supervise field trips, attend performances and celebrations, or simply offer a warm smile on school grounds, your presence contributes to a positive and supportive environment for students. As caregivers, you play a vital role in helping build strong, connected school communities, and for that, I am truly grateful.

Last year, we renewed our Strategic Plan to further strengthen educational excellence across our district and respond to the evolving needs of our students and community. Directions 2030 is SD43’s long-term strategic vision that focuses on the success and well-being of every learner by fostering inclusive, equitable, and innovative learning environments, strengthening partnerships with families and communities, and empowering students to become engaged, resilient, and lifelong learners who can thrive in an evolving world. It provides a shared framework for decision-making across the district and is grounded in a culture of care, high expectations, and continuous improvement.

This school year will undoubtedly bring both challenges and opportunities. I am confident that, together, we will continue to meet those challenges with resilience and embrace new opportunities for growth. Let us work together to create learning environments where every student feels a sense of belonging, innovation is encouraged, collaboration thrives, and excellence remains a shared pursuit.
