​​Summit Middle School has a large and active music program that includes two large concert cands (Beginner Band and Advanced Band).

The Beginner Band is for students who want to learn a new instrument in a band atmosphere. We practice Mondays and Thursdays before school from 7:45am to 8:25am. We explore how to play their instrument of choice, discuss maintenance and care, and learn how to read introductory level music. The program is great for students to develop their musical skills and to contribute to a team of musicians who all share a love of music. 

The Advanced Band is for students with at least one year of playing experience on a band (or string) instrument. Rehearsals are on Tuesdays and Fridays before school from 7:45am to 8:25am. Regular, punctual attendance and commitment to the program for the year are very important. 

Rehearsals begin promptly at 7:45am. We ask that students arrive a few minutes early (usually around 7:30am) to give them time to set up their instrument and ensure they are ready to play by 7:45.

Students attending a band program will receive a grade on their report card after each term.
