The Pinetree Secondary Library is an integral part of the schoolβs educational program. It reflects and supports the philosophy of the school by sharing and implementing the schoolβs aims and objectives. In addition to providing materials and services to staff and students, the library plays a positive, active teaching role as an extension to teachers' classrooms. We are here to promote literacy and the love of reading, and support the teaching of information literacy to help students develop the skills they need to access, evaluate and use information effectively and ethically to become independent lifelong learners. ββ β The library is open daily from 7:50 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The library closes at 3:30 p.m. the first Monday of each month for staff meetings.
Mr. Leong is the head teacher-librarian; he teaches in the library in blocks 2, 4, and 5. Ms. Lee teaches in the library in block 1 and Ms. Turpin in block 3. Ms. Ng is the library assistant, and she will be in the library from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Students are welcome to come to the library to do research, homework, study, or read. Teachers may also reserve a classroom area, use library resources, and collaborate with teacher-librarians. The library collection includes more than 14,000 books, DVDs, eBooks, audiobooks and interactive volumes as well as databases from Ebsco and Gale, the World Book Online and more.ββ |
