At School District No. 43 (Coquitlam), we see our employees as our greatest asset. Accordingly, Human Resources views support to employees as our major goal. Our department mission statement is to provide dedicated service with integrity and respect to our educational community. One of our primary responsibilities is to provide assistance to members of the management team in making the best possible selection and use of the district's human resources. This will include:
- forecasting human resource requirements;
- interviewing and hiring new employees;
- reviewing and evaluating staffing allocations and procedures;
- coordinating the posting process;
- evaluating employees' progress;
- planning for employee in-service related to personnel issues;
- providing leadership in developing board/management policies related to personnel & employee relations;
- explaining and adhering to management policies and procedures;
- assisting in problem solving related to personnel issues;
- assisting in planning of wage and salary schedules;
- supervising application of benefit programs;
- ensuring the staffing process (CTA/CUPE) honours the collective agreement;
- ensuring compliance with labour law;
- reviewing hiring practices in light of employment equity issues;
- maintaining job classifications;
- assisting in the development, administration and scoring of examinations given to job applicants;
- coordinating the staffing process associated with reorganization.
